So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come. - Matthew 24:44
Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming."
During Advent we await and prepare for the celebration of Christmas, the anniversary of the Nativity of Jesus.
We also await and prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus.
And we also hope and pray and wait for the coming of Jesus into our hearts.
Which all pretty much sums up Advent for us: Hope. Pray. Wait.
This Advent I plan on keeping things simple. Very simple. Instead of doing too many things that I can never stick to, I am concentrating on just one thing - keeping a daily prayer journal.
And so today my prayer is simple: Come, Lord Jesus, Come.

Hi Colleen,
I love your idea of keeping it simple, I am aiming to do the same so as to enjoy and grow in my faith during this beautiful season.
Hugs and God bless!
deodate, thank you! Prayers for a simple life!
Karinann, I think our lives get so busy and crazy that we crave simplicity. I pray your advent is all you are hoping for! Hugs and blessings!
What a great idea, Colleen. I already keep a prayer journal but love the idea of choosing one simple act to honor this season. I have been taking the time more this past week to spend more time in contemplation with the Lord and think I will 'allow" myself the time each Advent morning to continue to do so. Thanks!
I hope to keep things simple too this Advent, Colleen. I'm taking a page from Mother Mary's book this year - simple and heartfelt. May you have a blessed Advent!
Mary, simple and heartfelt sounds just right!! A blessed Advent to you too, my friend.
Jean, you are welcome! What a blessing that will be, taking that extra time to contemplate the Lord!
Love the new header!
Thank you Anne!
sounds like a great plan! love the simplicity. Hope...pray...wait. Love that, too. Thanks for sharing!
I love the idea of a prayer journal. I've started one many times but never stay consistent with it.
May God bless you abundantly during your Advent journey.
Karen, thank you! God bless!
Carol, I have had the same problem with prayer journals in the past. But if I use it for specific amounts of time, it works. Like when I go away on retreat or during Lent and now during Advent.
God bless!
Holy intentions, Colleen. My prayers are with you.
Reminds me of St. Francis. Simplicity, aiming at the pure and true, opens the eyes of heart and soul.
Joann, thank you for your prayers. And St. Francis! How true! God bless!
Wonderful idea, Colleen. My simple thing is to read Father Lovasik's book, "Kindness" every day and hope some of it rubs off. It's what I want to offer Jesus in the manger.
Barb, that sounds great! Let me know how the book was. Blessings!
