Sabbath Moments - Sea, Silence and Sighs

Sabbath moments are a way of taking time to rest in God, to enjoy God in silence or in nature. The word sabbath comes from a Hebrew word meaning "cease." And that is what we need to do sometimes, cease our activity and live in the moment and breathe in God.
I invite you to share your Sabbath moment(s) here on Saturdays. Be sure to sign into Mr. Linky below. If you don't have a blog, please share about it in a comment!
Here are some of my sabbath moments this week:
1. Hubby and I had lunch at restaurant on the beach. So relaxing to sit and watch the waves, the seagulls. No dolphins this time, but no matter. I felt such peace.
2. Eucharistic Adoration for an hour in the middle of the night - such silence. I can almost hear myself think.
3. Fridays have become a quiet day for me. That is, those Fridays I do not have an appointment of some kind. It is a day to catch up on sleep and rest and just mellow out. I write. I pray. I sleep. I read. It does me wonders really. I sigh a lot on these Fridays. That contented kind of sigh.

Colleen, I don't think I had any Sabbath Moments outside of when I was actually asleep or reading, praying right before sleep. I'll try to have some "cease" and just be and appreciate God times next week! Something about first week with kids out of school that changes everything. Still, enjoyed reading about your 4 moments.

Colleen - thanks for visiting! I remember that it was more difficult finding quiet moments with kids at home. You just have to take a moment here and there. And those little moments are so precious! God bless!

Lunch by the sea-how wonderful. I know what you mean about Fridays- they are my day off as well and I try to keep them as do nothing days especially since I work Saturdays.
Thanks for sharing these moments Colleen.
Higs and God Bless!

I would love to have some Sabbath Moments by the sea. Wouldn't it be lovely to walk barefoot on the beach and wade into the ocean? What God does for us in His gifts of nature are truly great.

Sharing lunch and the ocean with your wonderful husband is a gift and a lesson to all of us married people to cherish what we have here and now.

Food for the body (and by the seaside too!), food for the soul (Eucharist) and a day of doing things you enjoy. Wonderful little sabbaths! :-)

Lunch overlooking the beach sounds wonderful! I love watching waves, you're right, there's just something so peaceful about it.

Colleen, did you get the message I sent through the "contact us" button on your website? I have been trying to contact you for a couple days now and have been having difficulty (the devil loves to cause trouble) every time. E-mails get sent back, others don't seem to be reaching you - I just don't get it.

If you didn't get the last message I'll have Karin try. It's about joining us and a few other bloggers on a new blog we brainstormed. I've been able to get through to everyone except you :(

Mary, I got your message and replied to your email. Do I need to use different email? My answer was yes!

Karinann, I am glad to hear that you have the same kind of Fridays I do! We are blessed to be able to do that. Hugs and blessings!

Judy, thank you! Hope you enjoy Colleen's Catholic Corner!

Barb, that is what I love to do!! Walk barefoot on the sand and in the water. I am not much into swimming. I just like being there!
Thank you for what you said about having lunch with my husband. It is easy to take each other for granted. Little lunches like this help us not to do that.

Evan, thank you! I love the way you put that!

Mary, yes, something about watching the waves, looking at the water that seems to go on forever - very peaceful.

I wake up early before my family and drink coffee while reading my devotional. I write down the verses that go along with it and then pray His Words over my family. It's the best part of my day. It's so peaceful and worth the effort of getting up so early. the challenge for me is to find these Sabbath moments with my family. :)
