Come, Holy Spirit!

"The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” - John 14:26
Jesus tells us that the Father will send to us an Advocate to teach us. An Advocate who will be with us always and will reveal the presence and the love of our Father.
An Advocate who will direct us, teach us to pray, and whisper in our hearts that we are the beloved children of God.
An Advocate who knows what is best for us and will help us to speak when we need to speak. And what we need to speak.
One time after giving a retreat, a woman I know through my parish came up to me and said that she was just amazed. She knew me only as someone who was rather introverted and quiet. "But today," she said, "I did not recognize you."
I told her that was because it was not just me speaking. I told her that she heard the Holy Spirit speaking through me to her heart. That it happened all the time when I gave retreats. I can almost tell the exact moment when I finally let go and trust and let the Holy Spirit give me the words I hope will move others.
She told me that she had never experienced that before. And tears welled up in her eyes. And in mine.
Lord, thank you for sending us your Spirit. Thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit who guides and teaches and reveals God's love for us today and every day. Help us to choose the right words when we need them. Help us to pay attention to the movements of the Spirit in our lives and in our hearts. Amen.

I know what you mean, Colleen. Every time I go out and give my witness, I know the truth of this. For on my own I could never tell that story, but I know it is not me, it is all God and His Holy Spirit.
Thanks for another beautiful reflection and prayer.

Daily Grace, thank you!

Karinann, you put it beautifully. it is such a blessing that God works through us this way. I am in awe every time. Thank you.

I think it is the same with our blogs. The Holy Spirit works through us. We know that no way can we come up with what we write all on our own. My Guardian Angel nudges me quite a bit, too. If we are really doing the work of the Lord we are transformed. The rest of the time nobody would recognize us, as you say.

Barb, I so agree with all you say here. So many times I get that nudge or idea. And it won't let me go til I write about it!
Thanks.

God Bless you!

P.S. The code word I had to enter for my comment to be valid was Acts :)

This so amazing Colleen. It reminds me of how the apostles were so frightened before Pentecost and then after they were filled with the Holy Spirit. They then had the necessary courage to share the truth.

Monica, so true! That is where we get our courage too.
Thank you!
